Friday 26th August

Wednesday12th October

1.00pm - 3.30pm

Artists use sketchbooks in many different ways: to build confidence in drawing, as a journal, a record of work in progress or a place to store samples. Nowadays, textile artists' sketchbooks tend to become works of art in themselves.

This workshop covers:

  • Why use a sketchbook?

  • An investigation into other artists' use of sketchbooks, looking at different examples and reasons for keeping a sketchbook.

  • How best to observe, record and store your ideas

  • What exactly IS a sketchbook?

  • Myth-busting. You dont have to be 'good at drawing' to keep a sketchbook!

  • How to start your own sketchbook.

This workshop invovles a lot of talking, discussion and sharing, but will also include some practical work - particularly the use of Gesso! The sketchbooks' friend!

Maximum of 6 participants per workshop.

Cost: £25 includes all materials and tuition,

PLUS refreshments, all tuition notes, equipment and design resources
