Ordnance Survey

An opportunity has arisen for artists in and around Scarborough to take part in an exciting project relating to ‘MAPS’. The Ordnance Survey have kindly donated 124 maps (mostly from 1950’s and 1970’s and cover a wide area of the UK), to be recycled by artists.

All work created (which MUST incorporate the donated maps) will be exhibited at The Studio Gallery in Scarborough throughout the month of February 2017  (which will include ‘Coastival : The Unexpected’ weekend 17-19th February)

Please download the form,  and email (or post) to and a map will be reserved in your name. You can then either collect the map from Helen Birmingham, Untangled Threads, 5 Belle Vue Parade, Scarborough, YO11 1SU (please ring ahead - 07968 194187) ) OR send an A4 SAE to Helen at the above address and your map will be posted out to you. If you commit to taking a map, you are also committing to exhibit your results in Feburary 2017 (all works should be for sale, a commission of 10% will be taken by the gallery to cover costs.)

The work could include textiles, collage, drawing, painting, print, sculpture, ceramics, illustration, poetry, mixed media, multimedia, photography (or any other media I might have missed!)

I really look forward to hearing from you! Once all 124 maps have been allocated ….. well …. its obvious really!
