  • Bead embroidery is an embellishment that does not form an essential part of a textile's structure.

  • Traditionally, bead embroidery is used on clothing and decorative textiles.

  • It may be used in jewellery with the addition of structural supports such as bracelet bands.

  • Other clothing accessories such as belt buckles and handbags can be embroidered with beads, and household items such as pillows or boxes may be embellished with bead embroidery.

       This workshop will cover:

  • Transferring your design onto fabric

  • The basic methods of attaching beads to fabric:

  • Back stitch (individual beads sewn directly onto fabric);

  • Couching (a line of threaded beads laid upon a fabric and secured with stitches)

  • You will work at least one sample of each stitch type into your own design specification
